  2. Smart Recovery

Introduction to SMART Recovery "Discover the Power of Choice!"™ SMART Recovery's 4-Point Program® helps people recover from all types of addictive behaviors, including: alcoholism, drug abuse, substance abuse, drug addiction, alcohol abuse, gambling addiction, cocaine addiction, and addiction to other substances and activities. SMART Recovery (Self-Management And Recovery Training) is not a 12-step group, like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA). SMART Recovery sponsors face-to-face meetings around the world, and daily online meetings. In addition, our online message board and 24/7 chat room are excellent forums to learn about SMART Recovery and obtain addiction recovery support. Please note that registration at our messageboard is required for our online meetings. Our Purpose To support individuals who have chosen to abstain, or are considering abstinence from any type of addictive behaviors (substances or activities), by teaching how to change self-defeating thinking, emotions, and actions; and to work towards long-term satisfactions and quality of life. - From their website
  3. LifeRing Secular Recovery is an organization of people who share practical experiences and sobriety support. There are as many ways to live free of drugs and alcohol as there are stories of successful sober people. Many LifeRing members attend other kinds of meetings or recovery programs, and we honor those decisions. Some have had negative experiences in attempting to find help elsewhere, but most people soon find that LifeRing’s emphasis on the positive, practical present-day can turn anger and despair into hope and resolve. LifeRing respectfully embraces what works for each individual. LifeRing believes you DO have the power to overcome your addiction. It’s hard, there are often setbacks, but in every addict there exists the desire to find lasting sobriety. We think of that as the Sober Self. With addiction, that part of us has been beaten down and relegated to a corner of our brains, but it’s still there. We also have an Addict Self that wants to control our decision-making and lead us to use the substance that is wrecking our lives. LifeRing tries to support your efforts to strengthen the Sober Self and weaken the Addict Self. Our meetings, whether in person or online, consist of addicts using their Sober Self to connect with the Sober Self of other addicts. We share advice, understanding, and encouragement. We focus primarily on our current lives, not on the hurts and damages of the past. Two addicts, talking Sober-Self to Sober-Self, learn from each other and gain strength from each other. Steps, and Higher Powers and Sponsors – those work for some people very well. Our approach is different. We think YOU are the best person to design YOUR OWN program – you know what’s needed in your life and what has to be abandoned. You know what triggers cravings and what provides healthy and strengthening pleasure. You know the path you want to be on and you are the only person who can figure out how best to get there. LifeRing provides the safe and supportive contact with others that enables that process to succeed. LifeRing provides support for you to get and stay clean and sober. You do the hard work, and we offer information, advice, understanding and lots of support through face-to-face (f2f) meetings, on-line meetings, other on-line resources, and a variety of publications. - From their website
  4. Rational Recovery

Mission Statement The combined mission of Rational Recovery Systems, Inc., is (1) to disseminate information on independent recovery from addiction through planned, permanent abstinence, (2) to make self-recovery a viable option to all addicted people everywhere, and (3) to make informed consent to addiction treatment and recovery group participation available to all addicted people. “Informed consent,” consists of a body of information about the nature of addiction and recovery, about the risk/benefit ratios of addiction treatment and recovery group participation, and about the social and political dynamics behind mainstream thinking and social policies concerning substance abuse and addiction recovery. Click here for a pdf presenting the current body of information we present as “informed consent.” Rational Recovery® is the exclusive, worldwide source of information, counseling, guidance, and direct instruction on independent recovery through planned, permanent abstinence, i.e., Addictive Voice Recognition Technique® (AVRT®). As you navigate through the website, you will notice that the “®“ symbol appears regularly, signifying that some of the language of Rational Recovery® is protected by federal laws. While some may take a dim view of this, our primary purpose in registering our service marks is to prevent AVRT® from being offered or mandated by our social service system, including addiction treatment agencies, counseling professionals, employers, courts, jails, hospitals, prisons, and other organizations involved in the rapacious addiction treatment industry. Addictive Voice Recognition Technique® (AVRT®) is the lore of independent recovery from substance addiction in a brief, educational format. By its nature, AVRT® is not and cannot be a professional tool. AVRT® is not a form of counseling, therapy, or addiction treatment. If AVRT® is offered as a professional service, diluted as an adjunct to any other recovery methodology or treatment, or included in the program of a recovery group, its fundamental meaning is radically changed. In 1994, Rational Recovery® severed from the addiction treatment industry when it became apparent that AVRT® is irreconcilable with the basic beliefs and guiding principles that prevail therein. When the comprehensive nature of AVRT® was presented to the board of the Rational Recovery Self-Help Network, the board of that nonprofit, recovery group organization attempted to take control of the protected name, Rational Recovery. A successful lawsuit, Rational Recovery Systems, Inc., vs. Rational Recovery Self-Help Network, ensued, forcing that entity to become nameless. It re-organized and is now an addiction treatment guild fronting a tiny recovery group network with widespread operations primarily in the corrections and prison systems. The existing RR groups were belatedly disbanded, and today Rational Recovery® is solidly entrenched outside the social service system. AVRT® is now an independent international asset wholly in the private sector, completely free from the self-serving influences that have resulted in the worldwide addiction treatment tragedy. Rational Recovery® is a registered service mark in the addictions field, and is also the short name of a California corporation, Rational Recovery Systems, Inc., of which I am the president. We have and will continue to litigate against any person or agency that misuses our corporate name or infringes upon our copyrights, trademarks, and service marks. Because we are in the business of helping people, we will seek the punishments of law against those who interfere with our mission statement, above. RATIONAL RECOVERY SYSTEMS, INC. 5. Gentle Path Press

Gentle Path Press was founded in 1998 by Patrick Carnes, Ph.D., a pioneering researcher, clinician, and author in the field of sexual and multiple addictions. Dr. Carnes' goal was to publish cutting edge books and other resources for consumers and professionals on topics related to addiction, trauma, and brain chemistry. Dr. Carnes' innovative research and writing became widely known in 1983 with the publication of his book, Out of the Shadows: Understanding Sexual Addiction. It was the first book designed to help addicts deal with their sexual compulsions, and to examine the tangled web of trauma, love, addictive sex, hate, and fear often found in family relationships. His research, work with patients, and writing have continued over the past three decades. Experts and consumers alike have come to embrace Dr. Carnes' 2001 book, Facing the Shadow: Starting Sexual and Relationship Recovery, as his most compelling and important work to date. Facing the Shadow has been an underground best-seller with more than 75,000 copies in print, despite limited availability to trade audiences. Facing the Shadow introduced readers to Dr. Carnes' revolutionary thirty-task model for beginning and sustaining long-term recovery. After two decades in the headlines, alcohol and drug addiction no longer carries the stigma it once did; increased awareness has led to better understanding. But while sex addiction is not new, the attention it has been receiving is, so the need for reliable information, advice and help is greater than ever before. Gentle Path books provide readers with the best research-based materials to help repair the lives of individuals and families. - From their website
  6. Porn addiction is the new drug of the 21st century. Millions of men and women watch it around the world every day. Very few of them know or understand the risks to them. We are a group of people who have battled this addiction, and with the help of Nofap© , CBT and various models we have been able to fight this addiction. Its been the attitude of many for several years that porn is harmless, and that everyone should watch it if they want to. Well over the last 10 years porn addiction has exploded across the globe. Research has shown the effects porn has had on the brain, and how it has the same likeness to cocaine or heroin. With the rapid development of technology, porn is easy to access on mobile devices, and you can watch it 24/7. Many users of porn do not realize the dangers until its to late, and their addiction has taken hold. Start today and give up porn. Its not real, it only provides you with short term pleasure, and then delivers long term pain and self hatred. - From their website

For a deeper breakdown on all the reasons we’ve made pornography our focus, go here. Beyond porn, our larger mission is this: we love Jesus and we want people to learn about him. We believe the best way to do that is to talk to people wherever they are and show them through our actions how much Jesus loves them. Go here to find out what we think about Jesus.
