To install the Alpha 3 version, please follow these steps.

1. Download the file by clicking on the above link and then saving the zip file to your local disk
2. Unzip the file that you have downloaded
3. In the files that are unzipped, there should be a file called SetupWin7.bat or SetupVista.bat (according to whether you are installing on Windows 7 or Windows Vista). Execute this file by double clicking in Windows Explorer or running it on the command line.
4. The batch file will run two install wizards - one for the data and one for the software. Click the the appropriate buttons on each of these wizards to install the software.

That should do it. You should now have the Recovery Journal application installed and should be able to start using it. If not then please let us know,being specific about exactly what errors you had during installation.

12Step.org is currently in the process of developing a more robust version of Recovery Journal (v2.0). It is designed to make it easier to work a program of recovery and concentrates on using resources for the 12 step program.

The Alpha3 version was released in Jan 2011 and is available in the free version only. This is still an alpha version for the following reasons.

• The database is not encrypted
• You should read and follow the instructions for installation and uninstallation in the ReadMe.txt file
• The software crashes from time to time

We apologize for the delay in development of the final release. Our current plans are to release a full beta version in April 2013.
